Goose Creek Veterinarian Dr. Jan Sallas Crowe acknowledges the great work of “Vet Techs” during National Veterinary Technician Week October 15-21

Goose Creek, SC -   October 16, 2023, Dr. Crowe, owner of Creekside Veterinary Clinic, PA in Goose Creek, SC is celebrating her own Vet Tech staff this week during National Veterinary Technician Week which includes her staff of Lead Licensed Vet Technician, Amanda Smith, along with associates Sharon Motta and Bobby Crowe. Not only are vet techs “the right hand” to the veterinarians but have their own appointments for things that may not need the expertise of the doctor. Some of those may be taking x-rays, some dental appointments and procedures, vaccinations, performing laser therapy.

While Bobby and Sharon have decades of hands-on experience, there are certain things that only Amanda Smith as the clinic’s Licensed Veterinary Technician is legally allowed to do. Amanda received her associate degree in Veterinary Technology from Trident Technical College quite a few years ago.

Dr. Crowe says, “Our techs are our unsung heroes. They do a lot of front line and behind the scenes work. A doctor has to have remarkable trust and faith in their ability to support, compliment and execute our treatment plan.”

She adds, “It’s a wonderful thing when my techs and I have that established relationship and have the chemistry that they seem to know what I’m thinking before I say it and anticipate my needs before I need something.”

And, she adds, “They develop such strong relationships with our clients and patients. They’re heavily affected when they are a huge part of the client’s life and patients’ life. They are there to meet little Josie as a puppy and then are there all those years later when Josie crosses the Rainbow Bridge. They experience all the joys right alongside me, along with all the heartaches, too.”

Creekside’s Dr. Crowe wishes all vet techs a happy National Veterinary Technician Week and salutes the incredible work of each one. She says, “to all the vet techs out there, even if it’s not expressly said to you, please know the love, respect and appreciation is there, I’m just saying it for all of us.”
